I love a good pun. A good pun can make your day so much better.
What I love even more though is a bad pun. The kind that makes you cringe at first but then it makes you laugh just because it’s such a bad pun.
In the past, I have been accused of coming up with the worst puns there are. However, I’d say that’s not true. I am not coming up with them, life is springing them on me! It’s not my fault at all!
So there I was, baking a mini walnut bundt cake for our German friend who
a) loves walnut cakes and
b) whose wife has just had their first baby.
The situation might seem innocent enough … No bad pun in sight? You might think so!
(My apologies to the non-German speakers; you will simply have to accept that this one cannot be translated for you because the pun only works in German. You’re not missing out on much, though. ;)
And then I thought about how awkward this was going to be, writing about an untranslatable German pun on an English blog, and I had actually already decided I was simply not going to post this cake at all.
Until …I had the idea for the title of this post.
What can I say. I do love them. :)
